    We tested two samples, loss is 11.6dB, 12.6dB at 1.55um, including one SC/PC connector loss.

    Net weight without protection package: 2.27 kg. Gross weight with protection package: 2.5kg.

    Fiber length is tested as 23.824km by OTDR approximately at our lab, assuming effective refractive index is same as LEAF fiber (1.4690 at 1.55um).

    We believe the dispersion compensation ratio is 100%, according to the datasheet in the 1st link below. Dispersion: -168 ps/nm, we guess this value is around 1620nm or 1570nm, based on other similar mode EWBDKl test data  at last 4 pdf links below.

    DCF has much higher Raman gain coefficient than regular SMF. This DCM is designed to use as Raman amplifier, showing from manufacture test data of similar-model DCM. It can be also used as regular DCM.

    Without fiber connectors.  There is 900um buffer fiber pigtail in green jacket on each end of fiber spool, and there is sleeve-protected fusion splice between 900um buffer fiber pigtail and internal dispersion-compensating fiber (250um-coating bare fiber in red color) on each end of fiber spool. The internal dispersion-compensating fiber roll (with 250um-coating in red) is covered with soft glue. Based on our experience, this glue layer can be easily removed by hand, in case you need use shorter fiber length. As shown at manufacture test data of similar-model in last 4 pdf links below, the green fiber pigtail is SMF, so you can easily fusion-splice this DCM with regular SMF or add fiber connector by standard fusion-splice.

We guess it is similar to OFS/Lucent model MicroDK (see htm link and pdf links below), to compensate standard SMF at C-band. The spool drum size is 20x139x50mm, which is slightly smaller than model MicroDK. We measured the fiber length by OTDR, about 6.2723km, assuming effective refractive index is 1.4750.

Sample tested result in our lab: IL=4.45dB at 1.55um with 2 jumpers, length ~ 5.43km by OTDR (We did not adjust the refractive index to match this fiber index value. The refractive index may be slightly higher than standard fiber due to more Ge-doing in core, but it should be close). See sample test data in the htm link below. It was used in developing L-band ultra long-haul DWDM systems, so we believe it should be 100% dispersion slope compansation for truewave fiber over L-band.

    DCM for one span truewave fiber compensation, about -640ps/nm at 1585nm. Approximated sample tested result in our lab: IL=4.5dB at 1.55um with 2 jumpers. The maker is OFS(Lucent). See test data of similar DCM(Type: DCMTWRS:600, store part no.:FSC-DCM-030) in the htm link below as reference only. This DCM was removed from DCMB640 card of L-band ultra long-haul DWDM systems, so it should be 100% dispersion slope compensation for truewave fiber over L-band.     DCM for one span truewave fiber compensation over L-band, about -480ps/nm at 1585nm. Approximated sample tested result in our lab: IL=3.67dB at 1.55um with 2 jumpers. The maker is OFS(Lucent). See test data of similar DCM(Type: DCMTWRS:600, store part no.:FSC-DCM-030) in the htm link below as reference only. Type: DCMTWRS480. This DCM was removed from DCMB480 card of L-band ultra long-haul DWDM systems, so it should be 100% dispersion slope compensation for truewave fiber over L-band.     Fiber length is tested as 4.482km by OTDR approximately at our lab, assuming effective refractive index is same as LEAF fiber (1.4690 at 1.55um).

    DCMLEAF700. With LC/PC connectors. Designed for ultra long-haul L-band DWDM optical transmission system. -700ps/nm. 100% dispersion slope compensation. Removed from unused DCMA cards.

    Corning sold its DCM group to Avanex around 2003.  See datasheet in 1st pdf link with almost same model number. The 2nd pdf link is for very old model only. The 3rd pdf link is for C-band model, as reference to compare our L-band model.

    Predicting based on the dispersion slope in datasheet, this L-band DCM should also show negative dispersion in C-band. So you should also use this L-band DCM wih lower negative dispersion over C-band, though dispersion slope is not be compensated.

    The DCMLEAF580, DCMLEAF700 and other OC-192 cards (listed at https://www.lightwavestore.com/optic-modules-subsystems/oc-192-cards-boards-with-optical-modules/ )  were installed within same OC-192 DWDM ultral long haul transmission terminal systems and acquired from bankrupted company: Innovance Networks, Inc.  This company only developed and made products for ultra long haul L-band DWDM systems.

    Corning sold its DCM group to Avanex around 2003. The 1st pdf link is year-2005 version and 2nd pdf link is for year-2001 version of DCM specification for LEAF fiber.

    There is label showing it is for 100km compensation, "100" in model number also implied this. Comparing test data in last pdf link below with specification of DCM for LEAF fiber of 1st and 2nd pdf links, and DCM for standard fiber in 3rd pdf link, this DCM dispersion test data is closer to the DCM for LEAF fiber of 1st pdf link, but with higher dispersion slope. So we guess it was customized product for Nortel systems with pre-chirping transmitter. DSCM means "dispersion slope compensation module". Please check dispersion test data at last pdf link below to determine if this DCM can meet your application.
