The H301 is used to drive EML, EAM and Mach-Zender style modulators and meets SONET and SDH standards for OC-192, 10 Gb/s optical transmitters. Optical modulator drivers, used with modulators, regulate the output of lasers to create pulses at the very high speeds needed to carry large amounts of data. The H301 does so with the relatively low power consumption of 4.9 watts. Although the H301 driver can be paired with various modulators, for peak efficiency the H301 is a great complement to the JDS Uniphase 10 Gb/s modulators. The H301 driver provides a high-quality, single-ended voltage to drive external modulators, and it has reference and detector outputs to enable external temperature compensated control of output drive levels. The H301 is capable of an extended temperature range of -40 to +85ºC. The driver amplifies 2.4888 to 12.2 Gb/s data input signals up to 7.0 Vpp drive levels. It has a frequency response of 75 kHz to 10 GHz, gain of 14-24 dB, and a maximum gain ripple of +/- 1.5 dB.We believe the “5” in model number H301-1510 means one of followings,1. offers extra features and still meet or surpass general specification of H301.2. offers improvement and surpass general specification of H301.3. optimised for a non-JDSU modulator, actual specification is a little different from general specification of H301. The major parameter of general specification of H301: Output amplitude is >7V, it is higher than any type of modulators. If there is a little degradation in this parameter in H301-1510, it should be still good enough for research on any type of modulator, but it might not be enough for production especially if there are some changes in other minor parameters. Bottom line is, H301-1510 still belongs to H301 series, and there should not be big change in specification. We are not able make High-freq RF test.
