Micro-Strip. Soft-Strip. 0.008 (inch). Powered by two 1.5V AA batteries. made by MICRO ELECTRONICS , Inc.
Sample is verified working well to stripe 900um-buffered fiber at our lab. After stripping, the 900um buffer including 250um coating is removed, only 125um fiber glass is left.
Note: This stripper is not for 250um-coating bare fiber without buffer.
Tips: Need close handles completely to activate heater, then keep handle closed for 10-20 seconds.
Stripping PROCEDURE
1. Insert fiber through fiber guide and into heater oven to desired length. Be sure buffered fiber is flat in the oven channel. Always allow at least 1/8? gap from fiber tip to end of oven channel. Otherwise, heater
oven movement will cause fiber to buckle up and out of the heating zone.
2. Close handles completely. Blades are precisely aligned for concentric scoring without cladding, core, or conductor damage. Heater oven is automatically activated to start the softening process.
3. Keep handles closed (AA 10-20 seconds, 6-V or AC adapter 4-8 seconds) for optimum softening. Then, begin to pull the fiber, slowly increasing pull force until coating releases from the fiber. Remove the fiber from the tool with a smooth, even motion.
Type 1 is without battery cover, from photo 1 to photo 3 below (3pc available on Feb. 21, 2013). Type 2 is with battery cover, from photo 4 to photo 6 below (5pc available on Feb. 21, 2013) (you need use flat screw driver to open the battery case at the top). Please choose stripper type at the “Option” section below.

General description:
Soft-Strip® stripping tools from Micro Electronics have integral heating elements which enable them to soften and strip such coatings and insulations as MYLENE, KAPTON, TEFLON, PVC and HYTREL.
The Soft-Strip® system permits precise stripping of these tough coatings with less than 3 lbs. of peak pulling force for multi-fiber ribbon, and less than 1 lb. for single fiber.
The result is no fiber damage and higher quality splices and connections. Units are available for optical fiber (180-1000µm) and all standard multi-fiber ribbons (encapsulated, bonded, ribbonized and flat fiber types). Custom tools are also available.
This tool is AA battery-operated for field work, hard to reach areas or for quick fixes.
