Antec 20dBm EDFA instrument over C-band, in 19-inch 1U rack. Minimum input power: -10dBm. From front panel, user can adjust output power by changing attenuation at optical output(see 14th photo), adjust allowed minimum input power (For example, P in Trigger Level: Pump on -10dBm, see 15th photo). Antec sold to Arris or Scientific Atlanta, then sold to Cisco. See very-similar-model specification at the 1st pdf link below, and more info at 2nd pdf link below.
In our lab test, on EDFA front panel: Set Atten=0dB, allowed minimum input power -10dBm. See our lab test result of gain, noise figure, and output power at -8dBm, -2dBm, and 4dBm input power at last 5 pdf links below on sample 1, sample 2, sample 3, sample 4, and sample 5, respectively, and you choose suitable sample accordingly (noise figure result is not so accurate at high signal input). Output power 20dBm is verified at 4dBm and even at -2dBm input over C-band, except there is only 19dBm for sample 2. Gain is quite flat over C-band at -2dBm, 4dBm, and -8dBm inputs.
Datecode: Sample 1: April 1999. Sample 2: Jan. 2000 (Manufacture name: Arris) Sample 3: Sept., 1998.Sample 4: Oct. 1998. Sample 5: Oct. 1998.
Note: In our very early examination, there is warning message on sample 5: ”Warning: Pump 2 current high”. But this warning message was disappeared in our standard regular test. We cannot guarantee this warning will not happen again, this sample 5 equipment is ‘Sell As Is’. You can return if not satisfied, but two way shipping fee is not refundable for sample 5.
See rear panel at 6th-8th photos. Exception: For rear panel of sample-2, see 9th and 10th photos. There is no plug-in green connector on sample-2 rear panel.
Last 12 photos only showing LCD are from similar model LLOA-17A, but the features of these two models are same.
For samples 6 and 7, we will test more details later or before shipping.
Tested by optical head approximately:
Input (dBm), Sample 6 output (dBm), Sample 7 output (dBm)
0 , 20.2, 20.3
-3 , 19.8, 20.0
-9 , 18.76, N/A
-10 , N/A, 18.8
Note: For Sample 7, there are no two side-brackets (see very left of 2nd photo and very right of 3rd photo). But if you really need them to hold equipment on 19" racket shelf, tell us, we should be able to get them from other equipment.
